Singapore's life grew from its river trade and commerce back in
the early 1900s. The busiest part of Singapore then, the
Singapore River was home to numerous warehouses, bum-boats and
transport ships bringing goods into Singapore and carrying goods
out to other parts of the world. It was what Singapore relied on
then.
Today, the Singapore River has grew into a peaceful and scenic
tourist attraction, where Singapore's history and its beginning
are still remembered. The busy bum-boats and transport ships
have been transformed into cruise ships and passenger ships
bringing tourist on a sightseeing river cruise of the Singapore
River.
Lined along the length of Singapore River is Boat Quay and Clark
Quay, where the many popular restaurants and pubs mirror the
tranquility and beauty of the Singapore River. Along Boat Quay
and Clark Quay, you can find some of Singapore's finest cuisine
of international food, such as Indian, Indonesian, Japanese,
Western, and many more. At night, Boat Quay and Clark Quay are
transformed into an entertainment district full of night life as
the bars and pubs come to life.
