  1. Click Start -> All Programs -> Outlook Express

  2. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
  3. Click Add, and then click Mail to open the Internet Connection Wizard.

  4. On the Your Name page of the wizard, type your name as you want it to appear to everyone who gets e-mail from you, and then click Next. Most people use their full name, but you can use any name—even a nickname—that people will recognize.
  5. On the Internet Explorer Address page, type your e-mail address, and then click Next.
  6. On the E-mail Server Names page, fill in the Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server information provided in your Welcome Kit. Click Next.

  7. On the Internet Mail Logon page, type your account name and password.

  8. Click Next, and then click Finish.
  9. In the Internet Accounts dialog box, select the email account which you have just created and click Properties.
  10. Select the Servers tab, and select the checkbox "My server requires authentication". Click OK.
  11. Click Close. You are now ready to start sending/receiving e-mail.
  1. Some possible reasons why you are facing this problem could be:

    You changed your Outlook Express configuration
    If you have changed your Outlook Express configuration recently, try to change it back. Refer to the section on How to Setup Outlook Express

    You recently installed or upgraded an anti-virus program
    Installation of some anti-virus programs such as Avast can alter your Internet account settings. You might need to reenter your account account information. Refer to the section on How to Setup Outlook Express

    You recently installed or upgraded a firewall program
    Your firewall could be preventing your computer from accessing your email. Check with the firewall provider on how to allow Outlook Express to access the internet through POP3 and SMTP.
     
  2. Check your Outlook Express configuration: Click Start -> All Programs -> Outlook Express

  3. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
  4. Click the Mail tab, click your account name. and then click the Properties button.
  5. In the account Properties dialog box, click the Servers tab.
  6. Make sure that the server names are correct, as stated in your Welcome Kit.
  7. Delete and retype your user name and password.
  8. If the checkbox "My server requires authentication" is not selected, select it now.
  9. Click OK, and click Close.
  10. Try to send/receive your email messages again.
  11. If you are still unable to send/receive your email messages, try to use web mail. You can access webmail at http://www.merlioncity.com. Select the Members menu to access the Members Area.
  12. Click the button, and login using your user name and password.
  1. This happens if the Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus option is selected, and the e-mail attachment is determined by Outlook Express to be unsafe.
